The royals met relatives of victims, first responders, serving personnel and charities that support affected families. They were joined at the memorial by former mayor Michael Bloomberg, and organisers emphasised keeping family loss at the centre of the upcoming 25th anniversary commemorations.

Continuing the U.S. state visit

The New York stop follows two days in Washington, D.C., where the couple met President Trump and the first lady, attended a garden party, the King addressed a joint meeting of Congress and they joined a White House state dinner. The palace also shared the King's concern and thanks following a separate stabbing in London. Their itinerary continues with a reception for The King’s Trust and further visits in Virginia.
