Revisiting Nightcrawler proved unexpectedly rewarding: Cumming described the new work as “amazing” and healing. He contrasted that with his original X2 experience, which he called miserable and awful for many reasons he has previously discussed, including lengthy makeup sessions and tensions with director Bryan Singer.

What’s Next

Marvel announced last year that Cumming will reprise Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday, joining a cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu, Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer. The film is slated for December 18, 2026.
