The family's decision

In April 2023 a respiratory infection led to hospitalization and a cardiac arrest; doctors restarted her heart but a ventilator would have been necessary to continue life support. Kaylee and her husband Jake chose to withdraw intensive measures so Poppy could pass peacefully. She died April 30, 2023, just shy of 15 months old.

Keeping Poppy's memory alive

Kaylee, who had documented life as a medical parent online, found a community of support and continues to make videos about motherhood and grief while raising her other children, Rosie and Peter. She quotes, "life doesn't need more advice, it needs more storytellers," and hopes sharing Poppy's story helps others carry their child's love forward.
