Official reports initially recorded the tragic loss of two men and one woman: one man, aged 35, and a 55-year-old woman were among the deceased. A fourth woman, who was revived and airlifted to a hospital, unfortunately succumbed to her injuries there. At this time, it remains unclear whether any of the victims were of German nationality.
Search efforts for the missing individual continued late into the evening without success, involving the coast guard, a helicopter, as well as fire and police units. The authorities had previously issued warnings regarding high waves.
Some individuals managed to save themselves from the tumultuous waters, as noted by the state broadcaster RTVE, which highlighted that the authorities had warned of hazardous waves as early as Sunday. The natural pools, which are often seen as hidden gems by tourists, can quickly become treacherous in rough seas: towering waves can drag people out into the open water, with strong currents making return nearly impossible. Just recently, on November 8, Tenerife experienced similar distressing events when numerous individuals were similarly caught in powerful waves; three people lost their lives, and 15 others were injured. This latest tragic occurrence has once again left the island in shock.
